Ahhh, the New Year.

I could almost say I’m glad it’s here, but does it really matter? Nah, not really. Just another day, and time for me to once again try and remember to date all of my paperwork with an “09” instead of an “08”. Which will more than likely take approximately 4 months for my brain to recognize.

Nevertheless, it is a whole 365 days since this time last year – time to do a little bit of re-hashing.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
-Managed to have 7 cats in a one bedroom apartment without killing myself (or the felines), and successfully distributed each one of them.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
-No resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
-Quite a few people gave birth (Amanda, Christina, my cousin Jason’s wife, my sister-in-law). There’s really not much else to do in Nebraska aside from procreation.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
-My aunt Barb. That one hurt, she was an amazing lady.

5. What countries did you visit?
-Ye Olde U.S. of A.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
-A vehicle that is not a Ford Escort. Although, at this point, any vehicle would be preferable to none. I would also like a million dollars, but I find it makes far more sense to just ignore that one..

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
-Right now I can’t even remember my birth date. But the day we found out we were pregnant, the ultrasound when we saw it was a girl, my aunt’s funeral, and the day Mikey peed himself at the Huskers game.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
-New job! I’m a big fan of sitting on my bum all day and getting paid a decent sum of money to do so. And the benefits are simply beautiful.

9. What was your biggest failure?
-Despite all the Cocoa Butter in Omaha, I still managed to get stretch marks. Ah, well. One can’t have everything, I suppose.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
-I don’t recall breaking any of my knuckles or any part of my hands this year, so that’s a plus. But sinus infections ran rampant all year long.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
-Xbox 360 and my Nintendo DS. Keeping the minds of overgrown children in my apartment thoroughly occupied has been a lifesaver.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
-Mikey’s, in several ways: Laughing out loud at his peeing himself, kisses on his face for buying diamonds, and snuggles for not being a complete bastard during my pregnancy.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
-Sam’s. I mean, the guy is already a known douche-bag. But then he gets accused of breaking his baby’s leg, and leaves his wife for the woman he’s been screwing since before they were married. Nice, my friend. Real nice.

14. Where did most of your money go?
-Mikey likes beer and video games. I like food. That’s pretty much what took it all.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
-“Two Weeks” by All That Remains. 1) we listened to it a SHIT-ton, and 2) it was baby’s first concert – in utero

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, although more anxious
b) thinner or fatter? WAY fatter, thanks a bunch 9 months of pregnancy
c) richer or poorer? Richer. I think.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
-CRACK! Then I would have accomplished more. Not really.. but I do wish I’d done more of pretty much everything.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
-Bitching at Mikey for being a drunk-ass. It’s justthat he’s so daaaaaamn ANNOYING when he’s drunk!! He’d make Mother Theresa flip her biscuit.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
-Sitting at home, being lazy, reading, watching Mikey play Fallout 3

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
-As much as he drives me nuts, I fall in love with him more every day.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
-Do not watch television – at least not as it’s aired. I am an insane lover of South Park episodes via www.allsp.com however.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
-Yes, actually. See, she used to be one of my closest friends, and then she decided she knew more about me and my life than I did – which is always nice, considering she lives in New Jersey and has so much access to the facts of my day-to-day life. But I digress – She told me I was ruining my life, and that I was immature. And then she blocked me on her MySpace. Ohhhh, it still makes me giggle…

24. What was the best book you read?
The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
-Nothing new, just rediscovered some goodies from the past.

26. What did you want and get?
-A new job – Thank you, Medicare – and Dave’s mom for getting me hired!!

27. What did you want and not get?
-A tax deduction baby. Although I still have until 11:59 PM today to pop her out, methinks this will not be happening.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
-I think I agree with most people when I saw that The Dark Knight is pretty much incredible. Also Wall-E, Horton Hears A Who, and a plethora of others that I couldn’t think of if you paid me.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
-I turned 25 this year. And I didn’t do a damn thing. I was far too pregnant to do anything exciting. Next year I hope to attend the Shining Ball with Mikey and my in-laws (mama-in-law and I share the same birthday, and my entire goal is to get trashed with her on our birthday one year.. and I will succeed, dammit!)

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
-A large sum of money in order to catch up on bills, pay for a car, and afford to fully stock up on groceries. Other than that, we make plenty to stay afloat – it’s playing catch-up that makes things so damn hard.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
-“Well, this shirt doesn’t smell that funny… Maybe I can find pretty earrings to distract from the wrinkles.”

32. What kept you sane?
-Obviously nothing.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
-Sarah Palin – as in, I fancy shooting her in the head.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
-Well, there was this big election I heard about.. I pretty much kept my interest to how much I hate Sarah Palin. See above.

35. Who did you miss?
-My daddy, and my brother Brian. I don’t get to see them near often enough.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
-The girls at my work. Shannon, Rose, Princcess, Vicki, etc..

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
– See below.

Rocket Sperm = 9 months of HELL

Rocket Sperm = 9 months of HELL

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
-“Better hang on if your tagging along
‘Cause we’ll be doing this till 6 in the morning
Nothing wrong with going all night long
Tough to put the brakes on, doesn’t matter when you got to
by Nickelback

Get up, go out
Me and all my friends
Drink up, fall down
Then we’ll do it all again
Just sitting around, hanging out this afternoon”
-This Afternoon

To one and all:

It's just sooooo sparkle-y!!
